Celebrating another milestone in Research and Collaboration: The first Industry Researcher project of the Australian Government Department of Education‘s National Industry PhD Program commences in South Australia!

Congratulations to Flinders University and 360 Med Care – a technology of Enovis for commencing their Industry Researcher project today. This is the first Industry Researcher project to commence in Australia and is another first for South Australia.

Industry Researcher Alex Shen, under the supervision of Mark Taylor, Rami Al-Dirini, and Joshua Twiggs will be using advanced 2D to 3D image reconstruction techniques and artificial intelligence to improve the planning of total hip replacement surgery. The aims of the project are to enhance surgical decision-making process and minimising dislocation risk, a major cause of failure of total hip replacement.

A big thank you to Nilla Wen and the entire Flinders University team for supporting the project and facilitating the kickoff meeting yesterday. It was great to meet the team and hear about the strong relationship that 360 Med Care and Flinders University have developed over the years.
