Campus Plus can help initiate and negotiate work with existing or new partners, aligning strategic objectives of both research institutions and external partners in meaningful projects that deliver long term benefits and impact.
Campus Plus was instrumental in bringing together global Saas technology provider, Instaclustr, and the University of Canberra to create the Open Source Institute. The OSI offers a range of online skills training programs on open source technologies such as Kafka and Cassandra. Platform engineering skills in open source technologies are highly sought after both domestically and internationally. The ability to recruit is becoming a limiting factor in globally scaling tech companies. The partnership between UC and Instaclustr will help address a very real Industry need, whist providing first of its kind educational and training opportunities at the Open Source Institute.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
“Partnering with an industry leader like Instaclustr provides students with access to expertise, practical workforce skills with academic oversight that will give our graduates a competitive edge when they enter the workforce”
Prof. Paddy Nixon, Vice Chancellor, University of Canberra
“There is a significant skills gap that needs to be filled when it comes to technology and digital literacy skills in Australia. Many businesses are only just starting to recognize the benefits of open source technologies despite over 80% of Fortune 100 companies using Apache Kafka in their organization. We are therefore delighted to be partnering with the University of Canberra to address this issue. At Instaclustr, we recognize just how important developing these skills will be not only to Australia’s future success and position as a global IT leader but also to providing young Aussies with the job-ready skills that are so highly sought after”
Peter Lilley, CEO Instaclustr
